There was some excitement in Watson Steet, Blantyre yesterday as two firearms were found in a house.
Two old guns were wrapped in newspapers and had been hidden in a wall by the previous occupants. The current owner had been doing some DIY and on Tuesday 27 August was shocked to discover the package when renovating. He immediately phoned the police who sent an armed response to remove them.
The find included a flare gun and a German pistol, both dating back to WW2. They appear to have been in the wall for many decades. The relics were safely removed from the property.
The man moved in a year ago and an elderly couple had lived there previously.
