Multi Level Golf Range

A new multi-level driving range is to be built in an area of disused land in Rutherglen.

The golf leisure facility was given approval at a recent meeting of South Lanarkshire Council’s Planning Committee.

The development will feature 72 hitting bays divided into multiple seating areas over three tiers.

There will also be a sports bar, a lounge and casual seating area with large TV screens, event space/banquet hall seating for approximately 96 people, an open air roof terrace with bar and seating for 70 people, a drive through restaurant and a coffee drive through.

The new facility will be based just off Cambuslang Road, close to where the road goes under the M74 motorway.

Approximately 300 full and part-time jobs will be created by Topgolf, with recruitment to be focused in the local area.

Head of Planning and Economic Development, Pauline Elliott, said: “This is a hugely exciting development for this part of Rutherglen.

“It transforms this area of land, the majority of which is currently vacant and derelict, into something that will be attractive for the local community and for people from much further afield.”
