It’s taken nearly a hundred years for this tree to grow, but just one day to destroy!
This tree is on fire down the Calder at Milheugh. Set in one of Blantyre’s most beautiful areas, it was deliberately set alight by some selfish idiot and as of midday today, Sunday 17 November, it’s still smouldering, slowly burning further. The inside of the tree is completely burned out, making it unlikely that it’ll survive.
Dog walkers this morning felt helpless unable to put any significant amounts of water on it.
Such disgusting vandalism looks terrible for generations creating a permanent ugly scar on our landscape. Let it be a reminder that there are ‘brainless wonders’ out there with no thought for others.
