Queens Scout Awards

Congratulations to Rory McDonald, Frank Moulden and Sam McCrory from 3rd Blantyre (78th Lanarkshire) Scouts on receiving their Queens Scout Awards.

The ceremony was held recently at Glasgow University. This is the highest award a scout can receive and all 3 recipients will be invited to London next year to attend an awards ceremony attended by the Queen and led by Chief Scout, Bear Grylls.

To complete the award the Explorers undertook periods of volunteering, leadership training, improving at a physical challenge, developed a skill, and completed a 4 day/3 night self-led expedition through the Scottish Highlands. Each section takes a minimum of a year to complete.

Chris McCrory, Group Scout Leader told us, “As a group we are extremely proud of their achievements and the wonderful young men they have become. These scouts are the first in the group to receive this award in almost 20 years.”

Well done lads!
