Kelly Family’s Silent Quest

The Kelly family in Blantyre were busy in the run up to Christmas, but not for themselves. Their focus was very much on other less fortunate.

Debbie, Martin, Hannah & Derek Kelly who all live in Holmswood Avenue, have been going out the last 5 years into Glasgow handing out blankets, jackets and dry clothes just before Christmas.

Derek told us, “We heard of this group a few years back & donated extra items we had to them. It was nice to actually meet some of the volunteers that try to help make a difference at this time of year, especially to rough sleepers.”

We’re posting to show some recognition especially of the children’s thoughtfulness at this time of year. We know that the 2 children both help their parents in the run up to this annual charitable outing by helping with donations made and sorting out sizes for all the clothes and even helping distribute them out to those most in need.

We obtained this photo from “See the Invisibles”, a community action group based in Glasgow who help the homeless. Like ourselves they were keen to show kind individuals who silently work in the background without recognition.

Christmas was a little warmer for many people this year again, thanks to the Kelly family. Well done.
