FCO advises against travel to Spain

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued an update advising against all but essential travel to Spain (mainland, Balearics and Canaries) due to restrictions put in place by the Spanish government in response to the outbreak of coronavirus (Covid-19) (Summary) Time issued: 12:33pm, 15 March 2020.

With lots of people considering cancelling holidays, this is an important update for many who had travel holiday plans to Spain. FCO advice is used in many travel insurance policies. Being advised by Government not to travel, is the trigger for most travel policies to pay out.

A reminder from MoneySavingExpert.com that you should always take out travel insurance immediately after booking a holiday, even if you’ve rebooked for a later date.
