The residents in Calderwood Drive, High Blantyre want to say thanks to local women Jodie Cushley and Carly McCrory for organising a socially distanced street party to raise money in the fight against Covid19.

The street lit up on Saturday 1st August with the women doing an excellent job organising sweets, juice, food for kids, teenagers and adults alike!

The street all came together to enjoy themselves, maintaining social distancing. They even put up bunting, hired a DJ with neighbours ‘chipping in’. There was plenty of dancing and fun to mark nearing the end of the school holidays. Everybody attending had a wonderful day, respecting their own family social ‘bubbles’.

One of the residents attending was an older lady who had contracted Covid a while back, but fought it off. Now clear and well, organisers gave a speech for her, presenting her with a huge bunch of flowers to brighten up her weekend.

Most touching and a perfect example of communities coming together in unity, and still being able to maintain guidelines in these difficult times. Well done to all involved.
