After 27 years, popular Hogmanay comedy show “Only An Excuse” comes to an end this evening, Thursday 31 December 2020.
Featuring an array of colourful characters, impressions and largely football related comedy sketches, the show has had a good run and comes to a natural end.
Creator Phil Differ, who also previously worked on New Year’s Eve institution Scotch and Wry, says it is a “big responsibility” to be trusted with such a landmark comedy show.
The BBC have commissioned an hour long episode which features not just sketches from this last year, but also a compilation of the best sketches from previous years and promises many well known faces.
The show is on BBC1 tonight, at 10.25pm.
