It’s safe to say this new Years Celebrations are going to be strange! With Scotland being advised to bring in the new Year at home tonight, without social gatherings, first footings or meeting other households, we’ll all start 2021 sadly in the midst of an ‘almost National’ lockdown.
Breaking with tradition, a little personal message this Hogmanay to end this unprecedented, strange year.
“Receiving messages and hearing that people have died from Covid19 in Blantyre has been especially difficult. Those people are remembered collectively in the recent ‘Review of 2020’. My thoughts go out to all their families and with sincere sympathies for their loss.“
“I’m sure most of us will be glad to see the back of 2020. It’s been tough for so many families especially during lockdown and yet Blantyre folk have done this community proud once again, rising to the challenge with kindness and compassion when it’s most needed. Seeing so many incredible stories of volunteering this year has been truly inspiring and when we all look back on what happened, that, I think is what we’ll remember. Never to take anything for granted, no matter how small.”
“Looking forwards, wading through the uncertainty, Blantyre Telegraph has a BIG year ahead in 2021, soon to celebrate being 10 years old. It means I’ve been reporting local news on a daily basis for a fifth of my lifetime! I remain motivated and in the interests of you and I raising further funds for local causes, I’m confident the page can continue to be well managed in early morning, evening and weekend hours outside of my day job. Thank you for your support, comments and continued interest which helps keep this page so friendly, less formal and informative.”
“Here’s wishing all 21,000 readers a Happy New Year, peace and happiness and here’s hoping 2021 is a better, safer year for us all! Cheers! Paul.”
