The totals are in for our February 2021 fundraising here at Blantyre Telegraph. As always, it’s YOU who’s made it happen. We’re delighted to announce a whopping £630 was raised for Blantyre good causes!
With £219 raised by our Supporter Group Subscriptions, £212 by public donations, £43 from the sale of Blantyre Project books and £156 from Advertising on our main website, added to our overall fundraising total to date, it means Blantyre Telegraph (and its readers) have now raised a whopping £38,731 since the page started in 2011!
This month saw some generous donations, dividing out £630 entirely back to the Blantyre community. We donated:
a) £230 to the Miners Welfare via Andy Simm for our joint fundraiser to provide new, engraved memorial extensions on the miners obelisk memorial at High Blantyre Cemetery.
b) £200 to the West End Bar for ‘Blantyre Easter Egg’ Appeal, helping to ensure all Blantyre kids are going to get a FREE Easter Egg.
c) £80 of new books to Margaret Leith’s elderly mother who was having a difficult time in lockdown.
d) £50 to the local family of Liam McKendrick to assist with funeral costs.
e) £50 Valentines cash prize to Brenda McGrail for winning our competition.
f) £20 to 10 year old Philip Holland’s Sponsored walk for Scottish SPCA.
Not one penny was retained by us!
Our website has been updated with donation and award records, in the interests of full transparency here. https://theblantyretelegraph.com/raised/
