After Friday’s April Fool post on our page about a sinkhole opening up, would you believe, a REAL one has appeared this weekend!
Likely caused by wet weather or mine workings, some subsidence has appeared at the area of Boatland (Boat Jocks) on the western riverbank side of the River Clyde. At an area just north of Blantyre Ferme, a hole has opened up in the ground, uncovering what appears to be footing of buildings, thought to have been the former cottages.
Local man, Ian Turner has shared this recent photograph of stonework which has appeared. There’s water appeared in the hole too, and its unknown how deep this is or what danger it may represent to passers by. For now, please take care if you’re walking at that area, close to the Uddingston boundary.
