Blantyre residents interested in improving and developing Stonefield Public Park, Blantyre are invited along to an initial meeting this coming Tuesday evening.
Are YOU Interested in a walk around Stonefield Park with like minded individuals keen on discussing ways to improve and better the area? Councillors are on board, as are we and members of the public are invited to join us and Officers from South Lanarkshire Council Ground Services, Community Engagement Team and (hopefully) Greenspace. South Lanarkshire Leisure representatives will be there too.
This initial meeting is informal, outdoors and takes place on Tuesday 7th September 2021 at 6pm, meeting at a central point at the Skate park.
It’s hoped the half hour walk and talk generates some conversations about how we could collectovely improve and develop the park and it’s facilities, an area of Blantyre often overlooked,. Lots of residents, community groups, sports clubs, young people have an interest in using our greenspaces – let’s get some action! Please share and invite folk who may be interested. If there is sufficient interest we could follow up with a meeting to discuss how we tackle any issues and develop ideas.
How do we improve outdoor space? Sporting facilities? Could the play equipment be better? What about flowerbeds or beautifying the area? A town square? Are paths adequate? Is the park safe enough? There’s a lot to discuss!
This work was identified in the Blantyre Community Plan which is being updated this year – so good time to get involved! The Blantyre Community Action Plan for 2024, which was created by individuals, groups and businesses in Blantyre in 2019 can be accessed on the Blantyre Futures website at:
