There’s a hidden gem in Blantyre which deserves some further recognition. The Blantyre Miners Community Garden is the product of a fantastic community led effort which has transformed a neglected part of Blantyre behind the Miners Welfare into a wonderful community garden!
It is run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers, namely Bonnie Blantyre, some from Priory Bridge, other members of the local community and supported by many organisations and individuals whose kindness and hard work has helped form the thriving garden.
Situated just off Handibode Gardens, tonight, Tuesday 14th September the garden was host to the Blantyre Cubs and next week will see a visit of the Scouts. Practical displays and learning activities carried out aims to help them attain some more badges.
The garden has recently won some top awards and has even been featured on Beechgrove Garden. Well done to all concerned. It’s abundantly clear how much work has gone into this evolving endeavour.
