Significant disruption to commuters, local businesses, drivers and pedestrians continues on Blantyre’s Glasgow Road this week.
Contractors are resurfacing the road with a full road closure in place between Station Road junction and Stonefield Road and work is likely to continue until Thursday 21st October.
A reminder that the businesses on this stretch remain open, trading in difficult conditions. The work has prompted some angry messages asking why the council didn’t do this last week in the quieter holiday week. Others have commented they can’t remember road closures like this in Blantyre on such a busy, important thoroughfare. Other residents on adjacent streets are seeing an upturn in traffic due to diversions.
