The Western Desert Recce Group in Blantyre Industrial Estate were generous hosts this week to a visit from the 3rd Blantyre Scouts.
Visiting the WDRG HQ, the youths were given a guided tour, able to inspect the round robin stands, talking about the WW1 and WW2 desert campaigns, the Light Car Patrols, Long Range Desert Group and the early SAS.
They also toured a stand on the old renovated vehicles and military clothing and were interested to see and discuss an excellent weapons stand run by Pete Scally including a gas firing Vickers K demonstration.
The memorable evening finished with snacks and refreshments and WDRG plugging the Model Show on 4th December. Well done to Iain, Derek, Mitch, Neil, Don, Pete, Dutch and Gary Wallace.
