Developers have commenced building the new flats and homes at Church Street.
Planning was granted by South Lanarkshire Council earlier this year for the erection of 20 new cottage flats with associated parking, vehicular access and landscaping at the bottom of Church Street.
Site clearance has been completed, a task that was actually started the week before the first Covid19 lockdown. Developers Glenesk Homes have now erected hoarding and fencing around the site and commenced work.
The development will have an entrance from Church Street with no access from Logan Street, though concerns about parking in the area have been on the minds of nearby existing residents.
These private flats will be built from Glasgow Road using all the vacant space, right up to Terminal One in a U shape on an historic area formerly called St John’s Wood and which was once the site of the former Priory Bar.
