Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Party Cancelled

Edinburgh’s Hogmanay street party has now been cancelled as part of tough new Covid rules in Scotland.

From Boxing Day, all outdoor events will be limited to just 500 people to help slow the spread of Omicron which means the massive New Year Street Party is now off. London has similarly cancelled their party in Trafalfgar Square.

Here in Scotland, Indoor events such as concerts will be limited to 200 people if they are seated, or 100 for standing. This WON’T apply to booked weddings, which can still take place.

The new restrictions come into force on Boxing Day in Scotland. They will be in place for at least three weeks.

There are no restrictions on Christmas with no limit to how many people can meet up though advice which is not mandatory has asked families to consider limiting their social contact with others who live outwith their households.
