NHS Choir Sing for Maggies

The NHSGGC Choir is set to raise funds for Maggie’s, the cancer charity, with a special concert at St Bernadette’s Church in Erskine tonight, Saturday 29th April 2023.

The choir which includes local people, have been “touring” with a series of concerts and have been amazing audiences with their talents and eclectic mix of chart, film and show tunes across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Each concert has raised hundreds of pounds for various charities – and this time it’s the turn of Maggie’s!

Maggie’s Glasgow, which is situated on the grounds of Gartnavel Hospital, is absolutely delighted to be the receiving charity of what promises to be a wonderful evening at St Bernadette’s Church, Erskine on Saturday 29th April at 7pm.

The NHSGGC Choir, established in 2018, is the coming together of past and present NHS colleagues from across all disciplines and, for so many, it became a real backbone of support during some of the most difficult and darkest days of the Covid pandemic.

The choir continued to meet on Zoom for rehearsals during lockdown and as a form of release from the most challenging work environment.

The choir’s secretary is nurse, Jean Hepburn, who is looking forward to supporting Maggie’s by singing her heart out and she is inviting people to come along and join in.

She said: “The evening will be great fun and there’s always an opportunity to sing along –   we have known people to dance along too!”

“Martin Kelly, the choir’s Music Director and volunteer leaves no scope for complacency – his energy and drive is infectious, so he leads a wonderful performance as well as energising the audience!

Parish priest, Father David Boyd, at St Bernadette’s Catholic Church added: “It is our privilege to be hosting this wonderful event in our Church and especially for such a wonderful charity. So many of our congregation and the whole community of Renfrewshire have been affected by cancer it is of comfort to know that there is emotional and practical support available.”
