Back in July, we put up an article asking for Blantyre people to nominate family and friends who they feel deserved a little gift from us, for something they have recently done, endured, or simply as a wee pick me up to put a smile back on faces. We have a good response and picked out several deserving messages, contacting them over the last few weeks.
Like this next story. Carly Anne Lang was surprised to open her door last Friday and find Blantyre Telegraph standing there with a £50.00 voucher for a meal at local restaurant, Carrigans. It was her partner Bryan who nominated her.
Carly had a sudden large heart attack whilst at her work at the Parkville last year. Indeed, she was ‘dead’ for 10 whole minutes before being revived. At only 30 years old and a mother, the sudden health scare was both frightening and a shock. Bryan told us, “She’s currently a year into recovery and absolutely bossing it!”
Carly has been housebound for the last year and unable to go back to work at present, which has been particularly difficult as she’s always been in work since the age of 16. Being of shy nature, as promised, we’ve put up no photos.
Bryan further added, “I’m so proud of her. The fact she’s went through all the trauma she has and still stands tall as an absolutely fantastic mum to our 4 year old son, is amazing. It’s a privilege to know her.”
The voucher provided by our Simm Endeavour Award Funding not only supported local business, but meant that Carly could take Bryan and her son out to dinner, getting away for a few hours to at least forget about difficult times. Carly was very grateful when the she realised what the welcome surprise was and how it was for not just her but her family. We’ll be posting about further awards in due course.
