Motherwell Concert Hall and Theatre will be closed with immediate effect.
An initial inspection at Motherwell Concert Hall and Theatre on Tuesday 12 September 2023 has found that reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) planks comprise the majority of the roof structure. The inspection has also found evidence of water ingress to the roof space and a full intrusive survey is required. While this is carried out, the concert hall and theatre will remain closed to staff and visitors until further notice.
The Concert Hall is a hugely popular venue with many concerts and shows already booked.
A North Lanarkshire Council spokesperson added, “While this is disappointing, safety is a priority. We’ll be in touch with ticket holders directly for performances affected and we’ll keep you updated.”
