A723 Road Closure

Hamilton, Blantyre, East Kilbride and Strathaven residents are being warned of a five-month road closure as essential work for a nearby housing development kicks off.

A part of the A723 Strathaven Road will close from tomorrow Monday 30th October to allow developers to make progress on Hamilton’s Community Growth Area. The work will be done on a stretch of the A723 from the junction of Ballantyne Drive in Hamilton to the roundabout accessing the Cala Homes development.

Works on these backroads will remain in operation until April 5, 2024, and are necessary due to the work being carried out by Luddon Construction on behalf of Cala Homes and Barratt Homes.

Plans for the large-scale housing development were approved by South Lanarkshire Council last October. The development will see one site with 628 homes, including 49 affordable units and another site with 153 homes being built.

Diversions will remain in place for the duration of the work and commuters should leave additional time for their journey.
