NHS Kiltwalk for Maggies

The incredible team of 26, a mix of staff at Property and Capital Planning Department, based at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow, and their families, are taking part in Glasgow Kiltwalk to raise funds for Maggie’s cancer support centre.

It’s a huge challenge for the team, with some taking on the 23-mile Mighty Stride, some embarking on the 14-mile Big Stroll and some bringing their children along for the 3-mile Wee Wander.

The NHS GGC Property and Capital Planning Department support a charity each year and this year, Heather Griffin, Project Director at the department, had the idea of putting a staff team together for Kiltwalk as a way of giving back to the centre.

“Some of us have friends and relatives who have been helped by Maggie’s and we are proud to have this opportunity to support Maggie’s to continue to provide this essential support to people with cancer and their families”

Kerry Craig, Centre Head at Maggie’s Glasgow told Blantyre Telegraph:

“We’re absolutely blown away by the incredible support of our NHS colleagues. At Maggie’s we have a very close relationship with the NHS so it’s amazing to see such a big team take on the Kiltwalk in support of the centre. We’ll be cheering them on every step of the way!”

Maggie’s offers the best possible support free to anyone with cancer, as well as their families and friends, who walk through our doors.  Our centres sit alongside NHS hospitals and Maggie’s can also support you online.  The majority of Maggie’s funding is from voluntary donations.
