Aldi Coming to Blantyre?

Blantyre is amongst several locations being considered for new stores, by retail supermarket, Aldi.

The supermarket giant has launched a nationwide initiative to pinpoint prime spots for new branch openings. The areas which have the most suggestions will then be considered as part of the company’s commitment to building hundreds of new stores across Britain.

Blantyre is shortlisted already as one of the Scottish locations, but it’s not a done deal yet.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: “We want to make high-quality food accessible to all, but there are still some areas that either don’t have an Aldi or have potential for more stores. “

“We’ve identified some key places where there is demand for more stores already, but now we are calling on the public to share their views. This will be used to help inform our property search over the coming years.”

Other Scottish locations identified by the supermarket as places requiring new stores include Cathcart and Springburn in Glasgow, Glasgow Fort, Clarkston, Bonnyrigg, Barnton in Edinburgh, Newhouse, Dumbarton and Ladysmill in Falkirk.

So, here’s where readers come in.

Aldi intend to create updated, priority locations, based on actual public. If YOU would like Aldi to come to Blantyre, please let them know by emailing NextNewStore@Aldi.co.uk, clearly stating your postcode and why you believe the Blantyre area needs a new Aldi store.

Have your say. Would YOU welcome Aldi to the area?
