Theft at Livingstone Birthplace

Disgusted and shocked to see that Livingstone Birthplace has been broken into , with some of the volunteers garden equipment been stolen.

The beautiful parkland around the museum, just off Station Road is maintained entirely by volunteers and of course, staff , visitors and the community are extremely proud of how amazing it looks all year round.

On Thursday evening, 2nd May 2024, 3 boys climbed over the gate in the staff carpark and deliberately stole two gardening trolleys. These are not cheap and the gardeners use them every day, frustratingly needing them now for the seasonal planting.

Livingstone Birthplace have issued a statement, saying, “Have you seen our trolleys anywhere? Please can you help us get them back. We have full CCTV of the boys which we can zoom in and pass to the police but will wait in the hope they are returned”

If you know anything about this theft or know the whereabouts of the black trolleys with yellow wheels, it would be in everybody’s interests to ensure they’re returned to the museum tomorrow.

We dislike thieves with a passion. No regard for others and bringing the place down. So today, courtesy of our Supporters Group, we bought the volunteers another TWO good quality gardening trolleys, costing £184. They’ll be delivered before the weekend. If and when the older ones are returned, all the better.
