Lidl Superstore Update

Work to replace the LIDL superstore in Blantyre continues at a pace this week with the commencement of the superstructure.

Contractors ‘Forum Contracts’ have already completed substructure works, including foundations, drainage and floor slab and this week the steelwork has arrived, already quickly taking shape as the new store rises from the ground.

The existing store was recently demolished at the junction of Whistleberry Road and Glasgow Road and a new bigger and better store is being built.

The new store will have a slightly different footprint with a larger frontage on to Glasgow Road and a more prominent entrance and signage. As well as being eco friendly, inside the store will have wider aisles and a dedicated bakery area. Improvements to the carpark along with the installation of EV chargers are also in plans.

All being to programme, the new store has a planned re-opening in January 2025. Have your say. Are YOU looking forward to the reopening?
