We’ve had a few messages in recent weeks looking for an update on the vacant land at High Blantyre, where the Kirkton Care Home once stood.
A new development of 12 council homes is still with Planning and not yet approved. The land was transferred to Housing Dept last year and is now included in the Council’s Strategic Housing Improvement Plan. 12 much needed new council homes for social rent are planned, funded by the Scottish Government. 2 of these will be for special needs.
The Homes which will be located at the corner of Auchinraith Road and Main Street are semi detached and of 2 , 3 and 4 bedroom design. Each home, if approved will have its own electric vehicle charging point and accessed from the north via Nursery Place.
The former care home, built in the late 1960’s was demolished in October and November last year.
The council have not yet confirmed the housing development will go ahead, and so new tenants have not been confirmed at this time.
