Around 3.50pm this afternoon, on Monday, 21 October, Police received a report of two men injured within the Burnbank Centre, Hamilton and quickly attended the scene.
A 36-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and a 59-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.
Officers remain in the area and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
There are some closures in place on Whitehill Road and Purdie Street until after midday tomorrow, with limited access for residents only. There is no access to the shops at this time and people are asked avoid the area.
