In the Houston area, we have been on a roller coaster of petrol prices for 4 years. Actually all over USA.
From $1.65 a gallon this time in 2020 to right on $4 in 2022 and now at $2.60.
Of course prices vary all over the USA with the most expensive bring California, Hawaii and Alaska.
Putting these numbers into pounds, there are 2 factors.
Current exchange rate around 1.28 and litres to US gallon is 3.8. These work out to be:
$1.65 is £0.33 per litre.
$4.00 is £0.83 per litre.
$2.60 is £0.54 per litre.
Before you feel, well whatever you may feel, let me say in general that your car engines are both smaller and higher in efficiency than US vehicles. You get more MPG than we do.
I wonder how much tax is on a litre. Must be an awful lot!
