South Lanarkshire Council has announced adjustments to bin collection schedules for residents over the festive season.
No collections will take place on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Year’s Day. As a result, residents with regular bin days from Wednesday to Friday will see their collections shifted: two days later than usual during the week after Christmas and one day later in the first week of 2025.
Food and garden waste collections will be paused during the festive fortnight, with the final burgundy bin uplifts for the year scheduled for December 20. This service will resume on January 6, alongside the reinstatement of special uplifts.
Specific changes include:
- For bins due on Christmas Day (Wednesday) and Boxing Day (Thursday), collections will occur on Friday, December 27, and Saturday, December 28, respectively.
- Bins scheduled for Friday, December 27, will instead be collected on Sunday, December 29.
In the following week:
- Wednesday collections will shift to Thursday, January 2.
- Thursday bins will be collected on Friday, January 3.
- Friday collections will occur on Saturday, January 4.
Residents are advised to check their updated schedules and ensure bins are placed out on the correct day.
