The major roadworks on the M74 in South Lanarkshire have been extended by two months.
The bridge refurbishment project at the Nethan Viaduct, located between junctions 9 and 11 of the motorway, has been delayed due to “recent adverse weather [which] has impacted hydro-demolition of the concrete and slowed progress.”
As a result, the current traffic management system—two lanes in each direction with a reduced 30mph speed limit enforced by speed cameras—will remain in place until the end of June, instead of the originally planned completion date of April 30.
