Local man Derek Whiteford is incredibly attempting to run from Hamilton, Scotland to Leeds in England starting on 25th March 2025!

The run itself will be over 200 miles and Derek is hoping to arrive at the finish on Friday 28th March.
Derek told Blantyre Telegraph, “This will be a multi-day Ultra marathon and I will be carrying all provisions I need for the event (self-supported).”
“The reason I am running to Leeds is because I currently work for First Direct bank, they only have 2 offices in the UK. One in Hamilton and one in Leeds so it’s going from one to the other. First Direct is also a charity party for shelter so all parties are supporting each other.”
