WH Smith is set to sell its 480 retail stores to Modella Capital, the owner of Hobbycraft, in a £76 million deal. The 233-year-old ‘WH Smith’ brand will therefore disappear from the high street after a brief transition period.
As part of the agreement, the high street business— which employs 5,000 staff— will be rebranded as TGJones. However, WH Smith will retain its brand for its travel outlets.
