Supermarket Aldi is setting its sights on 1,500 stores in the UK and as part of an expansion, Blantyre is being considered as one of the locations!
Not long after LIDL has opened, news has reached us today that ALDI are looking to create 7 shops in the greater Glasgow area including new shops in Cathcart, Springburn, Glasgow Fort, and Clarkston. Alongside Blantyre, Newhouse, and Dumbarton.
The supermarket chain is looking for suggestions of prime suitable land to acquire and build upon.
Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK’s Managing Director of National Real Estate, emphasised the importance of community benefit and accessibility to quality groceries: “We’ve always believed that great quality food should be within everyone’s reach and many communities would therefore still benefit from having an Aldi nearby. We’re always looking at key places where we see potential, but we also want to hear directly from the public about where the demand is greatest.
“Their input is invaluable as we continue to grow and bring Aldi’s unbeatable value to more areas across Britain.”
We’ll be following this story closely. Have your say. Would you look forward to Aldi in Blantyre? What sites would be suitable in or around our town?
