We couldn’t let this story go unnoticed. In a world where kindness can feel rare these days, one remarkable woman has reminded us all what family truly means. First hearing about this last August, it’s wonderful to be able to post about this heartfelt article today.
A totally selfless act by woman raised in Blantyre to help her cousin when local woman Lorna Mcilvaney (Simm) donated a kidney to her cousin, Karen Rennie (Forde). Actually, the donation happened a year ago today after Karen had spent the most difficult 2 and a half years on dialysis with horrid fluid and challenging dietary restrictions.
Needless to say, the difference in her life one year on is unbelievable!
The first 6 months were a rollercoaster for both women, but the previous half year has exceeded everyone’s expectations. Karen added, ” I just want to share my eternal thanks for what Lorna has given me with our hometown. Special thanks to our family and friends for their love and support always.
This beautiful, inspiring, life saving gesture reminds us all: family isn’t just about being related—it’s about being there, no matter what.
What a remarkable and selfless act. Lorna should be proud of her unbelievable generosity in donating her kidney to a family member. Without her Karen would have had very little life if any at all. Congratulations to the both of them.
