A brand new roundabout has recently opened at the junction of Blantyre Farm Road and Calder Road (leading to Newton). It was introduced to improve road safety, ease congestion, and create a smoother flow of traffic—but is it working? What’s the thoughts?
Some local drivers say it’s already making a difference, reducing queues at peak times and making the junction feel safer with the addition of new lighting
For many commuters, they were simply glad the roundabout and road was open. However, there’s been early criticism. A few residents believe the roundabout layout is oversized and could encourage speeding. Others feel traffic now backs up unnecessarily during quieter periods.
We’d love to know what you think. Have you driven through it yet? Has it made your journey easier or more frustrating? Do you feel it’s safer for cyclists?
This new layout affects everyone who uses Blantyre Farm Road, whether you’re driving, cycling or walking—so your opinion matters. Drop your thoughts in the comments and join the local conversation!

I think it’s a total disgrace that so much money has been spent on infrastructure not needed. Like the new road in EK last year, millions of public money that could be used elsewhere wasted. I’d like to know who is responsible for these 2 ludicrous decisions and more importantly, who is accountable and who do they answer to?
Maybe I se it wrong, can someone enlighten me?
