Strathclyde Park – Algae

Be careful if walking with pets at Strathclyde Park. The loch is covered in blue-green algae with notices up preventing swimming.

According to Public warning notices around the park, the algae is dangerous to pets and swimmers and should not be ingested. It is related to a seasonal event and clearing up will be weather dependent.

The signage also warns that in the interests of health, you should prevent children and pets from entering the water, including not allowing paddling.

North Lanarkshire Council tests the water quality often and have advised they will issue a statement when the water issue risk is over. Please share.
