Weather Outlook – Sunday into Monday

It may be sunny and with temperatures above 20 degrees today in Lanarkshire, but make the most of it!

Clouds will roll in later this afternoon, bringing showers tonight as the gentle winds grow in strength. A rapid drop in pressure is expected overnight as conditions worsen.

Monday is shaping up to be a ‘memorable weather event day’, with official weather warnings now upgraded to amber for most of Scotland as Storm Floris bears down on the UK.

The warning for heavy rain and unseasonably, strong gale force winds lasts from 10:00am BST on Monday through to 22:00 and warns of danger to life as damage to buildings and trees due to storm conditions is expected.

National Rail has warned that speed restrictions are likely and warned journey delays and cancellations are possible. Scottish ferry operator CalMac has issued a series of cancellation warnings ahead of the storm.

It may be worthwhile going around your garden this afternoon or evening, tidying up, tieing things down and preparing for those winds! Stay safe folks!
