Batten down the Hatches

The Met office is asking Scots to prepare for the arrival of Storm Amy later today by issuing an amber alert for wind and yellow alert for rain.

Disruption is expected across Scotland later this afternoon and into this evening as Storm Amy is set to hit parts of the country with winds of up to 100mph in some exposed areas. For us here in Central Belt, the heavy rain and risk of flooding on streets will be a theme.

An amber warning has been issued for large parts of north and west Scotland from 17:00 to 09:00 on Saturday.

Several ScotRail and ferry services have been cancelled ahead of the storm’s arrival.
