Rock choir outing boosts Tickled Pink fundraising at Asda Blantyre

Colleagues at Asda Blantyre have raised more than £1,000 for charity, thanks to a sponsored cycle – and a little help from their friends.

As well as £507 raised through a colleague sponsored cycle, a performance from local singers The Rock Choir earned donations of £549 thanks to the group’s renditions of rock classics from bands like Aerosmith, Oasis and Guns n Roses.

The Asda Blantyre team raised a total of £1,056 for the retailer’s Tickled Pink campaign, which celebrates a major milestone this year as it hits an incredible £100million raised since the initiative began in 1996.

Asda Blantyre Community Champion Mary Sutherland said: “The people of Blantyre are so generous and we also managed to raise awareness and reminded customers and colleagues to check their Pumpkins for Lumpkins.

“The Rock Choir were amazing and so uplifting for the whole store as colleagues and customers alike commented how cheery it made them feel, with one customer asking if we could get them every week.

“We cannot thank choir leader Jen Bonnar and the Rock Choir enough for taking the time to come and help us highlight this very important message.”

Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign runs throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, with proceeds going directly to charity partners Breast Cancer Now and Coppafeel! to fund better treatments, education and life-changing support for everyone who needs it.
