First-year pupil Tyler Meechan, aged 12, from St. John Ogilvie High School, has returned home from Almere, Holland after an incredible performance at the European Taekwon-Do Championships.
Representing Team Scotland ITF and her club, UKTC Taekwon-Do, Tyler was part of a 33-strong national squad who travelled to compete against the very best athletes from across Europe. Her hard work and dedication paid off as she proudly brought home two major titles — European Team Pattern Champion and European Sparring Vice-Champion.
Adding to the unforgettable experience, Tyler was also given the prestigious honour of being Team Scotland’s Flag Bearer, leading her teammates into the arena during the opening ceremony — a moment she describes as “a memory to keep forever.”
Tyler’s achievements are a reflection of her years of commitment, discipline, and passion for Taekwon-Do, and she continues to be a shining example to her peers both at school and within her club. The entire community, along with her instructors and teammates, couldn’t be prouder of her outstanding success on the European stage.
Fantastic to see a local lassie doing SO well! Well done Tyler!
