M8 Closure – Here’s what you need to know

BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out cleaning works at the M8 Harthill Footbridge, for 10 nights, from 27 October until 7 November.

The M8 westbound will be fully closed between Junction 4a and 5 from 20:30 until 06:00 from the night of Monday 27 October, for 5 consecutive nights. The M8 eastbound will be fully closed between Junction 5 and 4a from 20:30 until 06:00 from the night of Monday 3 November, for 5 consecutive nights. During this period of closure, signed diversion routes will be in place:

Westbound traffic will be diverted off M8 at J4a WB off slip, Take first exit at first roundabout (rbt) for B7066. Continue South and at Balgornie rbt take second exit for B7066 Continue to Cowhill rbt take second exit for B7066. Continue South and at Polkemmet rbt take the third exit and head West on the B7066. Continue along the B7066 to Hirst Road. Take right turn onto the B7057. Take the M8 junction 5 slip to re-join West. This will add an estimated 0.4 miles and 5 minutes to affected journeys.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted off M8 EB at junction 5 off slip onto B7057. Turn left onto B7066 Eastbound through Harthill. Take second exit at Polkemmet roundabout and continue North through Cowhill rbt for M8. At Balgornie rbt take second exit head continue to Jct 4a South rbt continue to North rbt and re-join M8 EB at Jct 4a. This will add an estimated 0.6 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys.
