It’s been announced that the gym and swimming pool facilities will return to Blantyre Leisure Centre on Monday 12 January!
The Sports centre, just off Glasgow Road has undergone considerable works over the past few months to bring improved and integrated leisure and culture facilities. But there’s just a little more time to wait. Blantyre Leisure Centre will remain closed after the festive season until 12th January.
So what can we expect?
The gym has undergone transformational works including brand new gym cardio and resistance equipment, as well as an improved free weights area, and some exciting additions. One new addition includes the mighty BOX12 Pod which brings the latest in tech-led fitness, offering modern digital boxing training and circuit style workouts!
The changing village has an improved air handling system and all new cubicles and lockers. Be advised the newly installed lockers now require a padlock. Customers can bring their own or one can be purchased at reception.
Swimming lessons and Aquafit will resume at Blantyre from 12th January. Very soon group cycle classes will be introduced to the fitness class programme in the studio at the back of the gym.
The next stage of the refurb will include the games hall, male dry side changing and adjoining corridor. Fitness classes will therefore resume at Jock Stein Centre from Monday 5 January on a reduced programme, and will return to Blantyre in February. Racquet sports will also be temporarily unavailable and changing facilities/toilets will be located within the pool changing village.
Onwards and upwards!

What about the bicycle for disabled. Have they found the special glove that can be used with it for people with strokes . It has been lost for ages and not replaced.
