All you need to know for South Lanarkshire Festive Bin Collections

Here’s a timely reminder about South Lanarkshire Council Festive bin collection and waste services over the Christmas and New Year period.

For residents, there will be no bin collections on Thursday 25 Dec, Friday 26 Dec, Thursday 1 Jan, some people will have already had their final bin collection prior to Christmas.

Changes to collection days:
• Mon, Tue and Wed collections remain the same
• Collections from Thu-Fri (Christmas week) will be 2 days later
• Collections from Thu-Fri (New Year week) will be 1 day later
• Normal collections resume Mon 5 Jan 2026

Disposal of real Christmas trees
• Put your tree out with the burgundy bin (if you have one) on your normal collection day between 5-16 Jan
• If you don’t have a burgundy bin, book a free garden waste uplift (booking open 22-31 Dec for uplift between 5-9 Jan)
• You can also drop it off at your nearest HWRC
• Trees being uplifted must be cut into 5ft sections and tied together
