Family and friends of local man Daniel are hosting a ball for him at the Glasgow Hilton in March this year and are looking for businesses who may be willing to donate some prizes.
You may remember back in September 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic, 17 year old local lad Daniel Dixon was knocked off his bike, unfortunately sustaining major life threatening injuries. It was an accident which would change his life.
Daniel has been immensely brave, patient and it’s safe to say, he’s had a tremendous fight in the time since. He’s gone through numerous operations and was extremely unwell on several occasions.
However, in November 2023, after 3 long years, he finally left Hairmyres Hospital. The NHS Professionals who cared for him have to be commended, especially Hairmyres HDU (Ward 1).
His story of recovery then moved on to the next chapter when he moved into a brand new rehab unit (The Briar Unit) in Stonehouse. This state of the art rehab unit is for brain injuries and it goes without saying, whilst there, he received the every best of care. It was an incredible opportunity for him and his family.
But being a young man, Daniel then took his next steps towards more independence and to finally move into his own home. In October 2024, Daniel’s parents took him home to his own flat in Hamilton. Four years on after his life changed, he was finally home!
This inspiring young man now in his 20’s has been through so much, as has all the Dixon family. We’re sure you will join us in sharing this article and wishing them all the very best for the future
The ball will take place at the Hilton, William Street, Glasgow on 28th March 2026. Can YOUR business or organisation help with the raffle? Please let us know in the comments.
