The Big Bird Watch at Blantyre

The Big Bird Watch 2026 is coming on 23rd, 24th and 25th January!

If you’re quackers about birds or simply enjoy sharing the planet with fellow feathered friends then there’s a fantastic event planned at David Livingstone Birthplace just for you!

This year the centre is taking part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch but with 26 acres of land they’re going to struggle to do this alone.

So, over the weekend beginning 23rd January you will be able to pick up your free bird checklist and clipboard from the gift shop near the museum and take part in counting as many birds as you can and recording them!

Then hand your checklist back to staff so they can tally up the totals and submit them to RSPB.

Venue: David Livingstone Centre, 165 Station Road, Blantyre
When: 23rd, 24th and 25th January 2026

  1. Just given a birdfeeder camera for our back garden – lots of wee various visitors viewed 👍🏻plus some rather greedier pigeons & squirrel that will face more obstacles to their abuse of the seed supply on offer now🥴
