Aldi have announced a £370m investment plan which will see new supermarkets built in several key locations in Scotland, including Glasgow Fort, Cathcart, Springburn and Blantyre.
7 new stores will open in 2026 with 40 more in the pipeline (which includes Blantyre) as part of a greater investment scheme.
Giles Hurley, Aldi’s UK and Ireland Chief Executive, commented “Our unwavering commitment is to make high‑quality, affordable groceries accessible to everybody.”
“But we recognise that there are still areas without an Aldi store, so our expansion plans for 2026 are designed to address some of these gaps as we work towards our long-term goal of 1,500 UK stores. We’ve always believed that access to high-quality affordable food is a right, not a privilege, and that’s why it’s our mission to make this a reality for customers up and down the UK.”
Would you welcome and shop at Aldi when it arrives in Blantyre? Where would YOU like to see the store located?
