Here’s a lovely story to end the weekend with about a sassy, talented Blantyre lass making a success of things, out in the BIG world!
Eleven year old Alexandra Wilkie has not only set her sights on the big screen, but she has already starred in her very first professional film ‘Glenrothan’, directed by none other than Brian Cox! The movie is a love letter to Scotland and Alex has starred alongside Brian and Alan Cumming.
Eleven year old Alex and her mum Kimberley flew out to Toronto International Film Festival for the red carpet premiere back in September and last week were back in America, this time in Los Angeles! As these fantastic photos show, she’s been mixing with some BIG stars including Alan Cumming, and has even given her own interviews. She was there for the unveiling of Alan Cumming’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, before heading on to the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
Alex’s mother Kimberley told Blantyre Telegraph today, “We’re so proud of her and things are happening in the background. Alex is a pupil of Karen Borden Dance Academy and also starred in the reboot of Ballamory and has other screen readings in the pipeline!”
However, she isn’t the only star of the family (no Sandy, we’re not talking about you this time!), Her younger sister, Jessica (8) is also in the movie as a supporting actress in one scene!
Alex has now jetted back across the Atlantic and back home in Blantyre. She’s had a marvellous time and we’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of this talented starlet in future! Well done Alex! You look every inch a global superstar and putting Blantyre on map!
We’re sure all our readers will agree and join us in the comments…..you are ABSOLUTELY rockin’ this fame malarky!!
Glenrothan is out in cinemas on 17th April.
