A Blantye resident who was walking at Dalwhinnie Avenue, Priory Bridge, happened this week to see a rare event.
She spotted a beautiful white albino deer through the trees next to the river, which then ran off into the Calder before she could get a chance to get a photo.
An albino roe deer is an extremely rare variant of the common roe deer (*Capreolus capreolus), characterized by a complete lack of pigment, resulting in a pure white coat and pink eyes due to a genetic condition called albinism, which reduces melanin.
Have your say. Has anybody seen a deer like this on the outskirts of Blantyre?
