It’s all change at Hamilton Technology Park as the massive former ‘First Direct’ building gets demolished.
The site at High Blantyre has been entirely fenced off with contractors in last week knocking down the large office building. The former first direct / HSBC call-centre building is being demolished primarily because it became surplus after the bank relocated staff elsewhere, and the site is now being repositioned for future redevelopment rather than reuse as offices.
The site (around 140,000 sq ft) was marketed as a development opportunity site after HSBC relocated operations to Maxim Park

Goodness! I was on the first direct project team who selected that site and the delivered the project (I did all the telecoms design and build) – feeling very old now!
