A reminder about swimming or paddling in open areas of water in hot weather.
At least 11 people in the UK have sadly died in the last week whilst trying to cool down. 9 of them were children. Climate records have been broken in May as high temperatures in Britain have seen people looking for quick ways to cool down.
Those who lost their lives are thought to have got into trouble whilst being immersed in cold water, often in remote or unpopulated areas. Our thoughts are with the families.
Temperatures are forecast to come down in the coming days but it’s worth a reminder here, to steer clear of deep or cold bodies of water and stay safe.
